Sockets were blown off walls inside a house struck by lightning tonight.
Firefighters said no one was injured, but the bolt out of the blue sparked a small fire in the loft.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service was called to a townhouse on Gardinar Close in Standish, Wigan, at 6.10pm.
High temperatures across the country are triggering thunderstorms, with Met Office weather warnings currently in place across Greater Manchester.
A fire service spokesman said the house was struck by lightning, causing damage to the roof and a small fire in a loft space.

A woman who owns the house was inside at the time, but no one was injured.
Firefighters remained at the scene.
Carl Haslam, a station officer, tweeted pictures of the damage caused.
The charred eaves of a section of the roof can be seen.
Roof tiles are also understood to have been damaged and dislodged.
Station Officer Haslam said the force of the lightning blew sockets off the walls.
He tweeted: "First job of the night. Lightning strike in #Standish.
"Sockets blown off the wall. Stay Safe."
