Social welfare Ireland: Six payment changes starting this week ahead of Easter holidays

Easter is fast approaching with schools and colleges set for a well deserved two-week break.

In line with the holidays, all Intreo centres and branch offices will be closing on Good Friday, April 15, and Easter Monday, April 18, 2022.

Meanwhile, all post offices will be open until 1pm on Good Friday but will remain closed on Saturday, April 16, and Easter Monday.

As a result of these closures and changes to business hours, a number of social welfare payments can be collected at earlier dates.

For those collecting welfare and other payments from the post office, here are all of the changes:

  • Payments due on Monday 11 April will be available from Friday 8 April
  • Payments due on Tuesday 12 April will be available from Monday 11 April
  • Payments due on Wednesday 13 April will be available from Tuesday 12 April
  • Payments due on Thursday 14 April will be available from Wednesday 13 April
  • Payments due on Friday 15 April will be available from Thursday 14 April
  • Payments due on Monday 18 April will be available from Thursday 14 April

For anyone receiving EFT payments and cheques for casual jobseekers, they will be processed on Thursday, April 14.

To make sure there is no disruption to your payment, you must submit your declaration for the week ending April 12/13 by:

  • 4pm on Thursday, April 14 for online submissions
  • 12pm on Thursday, April 14 for paper docket submissions

If you submit your declaration before this deadline, your payment will be available for collection or in your bank account by Wednesday, April 20.

If you are don't know your expected work hours before the deadline, you can still submit your declaration as normal - however, payment will be delayed.
