Social welfare recipients are set to see changes to their payment dates in the coming days due to the May bank holiday.
Recipients that they can expect their payments on different days than usual this week as Monday, May 2 is a Public Holiday and a Bank Holiday in Ireland.
All banks and Post Offices will be closed on that date.

This means that welfare payments due on Monday should instead be paid on Friday, April 29.
People whose payments are due on Tuesday, May 3 should not be affected by the bank holiday.
Additionally, for claimants whose welfare or state pension payments are lodged directly into banks and credit unions, they will also be paid on Friday.
The bank holiday will also have an impact on child benefit payments for May.
The monthly payment of €140 to the parents or guardians of children under 16 years of age is issued on the first Tuesday of every month.

However, some recipients may notice a small difference when it comes to May's payment date.
When the Monday prior to the payment day is a bank holiday, as May 2 is, then the child benefit is sometimes paid early into some bank accounts.
While it is often paid on the Saturday or Friday before, this is not always guaranteed.
This means that for May 2022, some people should already have received their child benefit on Friday, April 29.
The child benefit is available for children aged 16 and 17 if they are in full-time education or full-time training or have a disability and cannot support themselves.
The payment, which is not subject to taxation, is a universal payment meaning that your income level and your social insurance (PRSI) record do not affect whether you get it.
