Social welfare Ireland: Jobseeker's payment dates changed this Christmas

The Jobseeker's payment dates have been changed this Christmas for a very specific reason.

The pay date for Christmas social welfare payments has been changed due to Christmas falling on a Saturday.

And Mywelfare.ie has urged people who are on part-time jobseekers benefit to follow the new guidelines to submit work patterns for the Christmas period correctly.

The easiest way for an employee to avoid any disruption to the jobseeker's payment is to ask the employer for the hours a claimant will be working for December.

On December 14/15, in addition to the normal working week, claimants will be asked to provide the hours of work for the following two weeks (December 21-22 and 28-29)

The reason for this is that both of those weeks payments will be paid in advance on Thursday, December 23.

All the information needed has to be provided by 4pm on Wednesday, December 15.

If that deadline cannot be met, claimants can still submit their updated details by 4pm on December 17.

If a claimant still cannot meet that deadline, updated work details can be submitted but the double payment will arrive after Christmas.

A number of changes are also set to take place in January 2022.

These include a €5 increase for anyone aged 25 or under on the reduced rate of Jobseekers Allowance as well as an increase of €2 in the weekly rate for a qualified child under the age of 12.

All the changes can be seen here.
