The fuel allowance payment for 2021/2022 started on September 27, 2021 and runs for a total of 28 weeks until April 4, 2022.

The weekly payment is €28 per week coming to a total of €784 over the 28 weeks.
Can you get it paid other than in weekly instalments?
Yes. you can choose to have the payment in two lump sums and would have received them in late September and January 3.
Who's eligible for the fuel allowance?
To be eligible, you must be legally resident in the state and be the main bill payer for heating.
You must also be on Jobseeker's Allowance for more than 390 days, or Basic Supplementary Welfare Allowance for more than 455 days.

In the recent Budget 2022 announcement, a number of changes to the fuel allowance were introduced.
Speaking earlier this month, Minister for Public Expenditure, Michael McGrath said: "The additional expenditure measures we are announcing today come to a total of €290million and will make a positive impact on the incomes of all households in our country.
"The centre piece is a cut in the electricity bill of every household of €200 including VAT."
"This will be accompanied by an additional exceptional payment of €125 to households in receipt of the fuel allowance."
"The fuel allowance payment will be made in March, with the credit of €200 including VAT for electricity being applied to electricity accounts in April."
