Social welfare Ireland: Date, who qualifies, and all you need to know about upcoming €200 payment

The bonus €200 bonus social welfare payment announced by the Government in February is set to be issued in the coming weeks.

The spring cash boost is part of a €410m social protection package aimed at combating the rising cost of living. Other measures part of this package include a €100 bonus child benefit and €100 bonus back to school allowance payments.

Those who qualify for the upcoming €200 bonus payment can expect to receive it in the coming weeks. Here's everything you need to know:

When will I receive the payment?

The Department of Social Protection told Dublin Live that they are "working for this payment to be made in late April". An exact date has not been confirmed yet.

Who qualifies for the payment?

This €200 lump sum payment will be given to people who are on social welfare supports for longer than a year, the same groups who received the Christmas bonus in 2022. These are:

  • Back to Education Allowance
  • Back to Work Enterprise Allowance
  • Back to Work Family Dividend
  • Benefit payment for 65 year olds
  • Blind Pension
  • Carer's Allowance and Carer's Benefit (including half-rate Carer's Allowance)
  • Community Employment
  • Deserted Wife's Allowance and Benefit
  • Daily Expenses Allowance, formerly called Direct Provision Allowance for 12 months
  • Disability Allowance
  • Disablement Benefit
  • Domiciliary Care Allowance
  • Farm Assist
  • Guardian's Payment (Contributory) and (Non-Contributory)
  • Illness Benefit for 12 months or more
  • Invalidity Pension
  • Jobseeker's Allowance for 12 months (312 days)
  • Jobseeker's Transitional payment
  • Magdalene Laundry Payment
  • One-Parent Family Payment
  • Partial Capacity Benefit
  • Rural Social Scheme
  • State Pension (Contributory) and (Non-Contributory)
  • Supplementary Welfare Allowance for 12 months
  • Tús
  • Widow, Widower's or Surviving Civil Partner's Pension (Contributory) and (Non-Contributory)

A€200 payment for Working Family Payment recipients who have not received the lump sum on their primary payment, will also be paid in April. There will be one €200 lump sum paid, even if a person receives more than one qualifying social welfare payment.
