A €1,000 social welfare payment for certain workers heavily impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic is still available.
The Enterprise Support Grant is available to self-employed workers who have closed their Covid-19 PUP claim.
This grant will provide assistance to self-employed workers as a way to restart their businesses that may have been badly affected by Covid-19.
And certain workers are able to claim the €1000 payment twice.
If you claimed the Enterprise Support Grant in 2020 but were back on the PUP in 2021, you can access the €1000 payment for a second time once you close your PUP claim.
In order to qualify for the payment, you need to fulfil the following criteria:
- are tax and PRSI compliant
- are not liable for commercial rates
- have been in receipt of the COVID-19 Pandemic Unemployment Payment and have closed their claim
- have reopened their business which was closed due to the pandemic
- employ less than 10 people
- have an annual turnover of less than €1 million
- are not eligible for similar COVID-19 business restart grants from other government departments
- can produce VAT receipts/invoices in respect of business restart costs and expenses claimed, if requested to do so by the department
The Enterprise support grant can be used to pay for costs related to opening your business such as safety measures, business advice, repairs, fuel and wages.
