The main annual adjustments to the payment dates for those in receipt of Social Welfare and State Pension occur mainly this week due to the closure of banks and post offices for five days.
Both close from December 25 and will reopen on December 30.
Post Offices and Banks will remain open until lunchtime on Friday, December 24 and so all changes were made to ensure no one is left out of pocket.
So here are all of the adjustments that began this week for Christmas 2021.
Weekly Payments to Post Offices and Banks
Payments that were due today, December 23, were available for collection on Wednesday, December 22.
Any payments that are due on Friday, December 24, will be available from today, Thursday, December 23.
Post Offices and Banks will also be closed on Monday 3rd January 2022 as well, so any payments due that day will be given out on Friday, December 31.
Meanwhile, those who are in receipt of welfare payments or the state pension will notice a double payment arriving in their account at some point this week.
This advance payment will be in place of the payment due in the week beginning Monday, December 27, 2021, and therefore there will be no regular weekly payments in that week.
Monthly payments
Anyone who receives their Welfare Benefits or Pension monthly will notice the following changes:
- Any payments due today, Thursday, December 23, will arrive as planned
- Unlike payments due on Monday, December 27, and 28, they will be given out today as well, in advance of banks and post offices being closed.
- The final two changes will come for those who are due their sum on December 29 or 30, you will see your payment arrive tomorrow, December 24.
Finally, for those who are specifically on the Pandemic Unemployment Payment, no payment will be made on December 28. You should have noticed an advance payment in your account on December 21. The next payment will be on January 4, 2022.
