Thousands of Irish bank accounts will be receiving a nice boost from next week amid the current cost of living crisis.
Following on from decisions made in the recent Budget, a number of lump sum payments are due to be made to social welfare recipients.
Therefore, from Monday, November 14, thousands of people will receive a series of lump sum payments amounting to €1,600.

These are aimed at supporting many households through the energy and cost of living crisis as the Christmas season approaches.
Payments being made next week are aimed at helping groups considered the most vulnerable across the country who are struggling to pay their bills and afford the basic necessities.
It is understood that a total of 769,000 households will benefit from the cash boost including low-income families, pensioners living alone, social welfare recipients, and carers.
The lump sum will be paid into the accounts that each recipient receives their usual welfare benefits.
Each lump sum will be released from Monday, 14 November, and are as follows:
- €400 Fuel Allowance lump sum payment, benefitting 370,000 households getting the Fuel Allowance
- €200 lump sum payment to the 234,000 people getting the Living Alone Increase
- €500 lump sum payment to all families getting the Working Family Payment (WFP), benefitting 44,000 households
- €500 lump sum payment for people getting Carer's Support Grant will benefit over 121,000 carers.
Later in the month, from November 21 a €500 lump sum disability support grant will be paid to all people getting a long term disability payment.
