Social media users stunned as Aer Lingus hit Ryanair with landing joke online

Twitter users were surprised on Tuesday to see Aer Lingus making jokes about Ryanair on their official account.

Aer Lingus shared a video from well-known content creator and RTE 2fm weekend host Carl Mullan which suggested their landings are much softer than Ryanair's.

The comedy sketch shows a passenger landing nice and smoothly when on Aer Lingus before being thrown around the seat when on Ryanair.

And the Aer Lingus account quoted the video and said "true story" in a real dig at the budget airline.

But the Ryanair admin wasn't having it and soon responded with a dig of their own.

They shared a picture of Ryanair flights currently in the sky compared to much fewer Aer Lingus aircrafts operating with the caption " lads, what would you know about landings?".

Both posts received thousands of likes and hundreds of comments back with most enjoying the banter.

A few however were a bit taken aback and surprised by the encounter.

Maureen Catterson tweeted: "If ever there was an example of 'that escalated quickly'."
