RTE star James Kavanagh has opened up about his relationship with his brother, who is Conor McGregor’s coach, and said he has been his mentor.
And while they both work in different worlds – John in the MMA arena and James as a social media guru – he said they connected through their bold career choices.
James, 31, told the Irish Mirror: “My brother has been a mentor for a long time and even just going the road less travelled.
“I remember when he was going off to his MMA world, my parents were like, oh God, where is he going, he should choose a more solid job or solid route.”
The Dubliner, who shot to fame as a Snapchat star and now boasts almost 150k followers on Instagram, added: “Then I kind of did the same thing.
“I went off and wrote a cookbook with my boyfriend and I quit my job and I was very insecure in myself.
“But my brother was like, no, you are going to be fine.”
The popular 44-year-old martial arts coach welcomed his first child, Conall, with his fiancee Orlagh Hunter last year.
