Social media shows appreciation for Jordy Nelson’s terrific NFL career

Future Green Bay Packers Hall of Famer Jordy Nelson is retiring from the NFL after 10 terrific seasons in Green Bay and one final season in Oakland.

The top target for two-time MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Nelson finished his career ranked among the most productive receivers in the history of the Packers. He is currently third in team history in catches, fifth in receiving yards and second in receiving touchdowns, ensuring he’ll have a spot in the Packers Hall of Fame.

After former teammate James Jones announced news of Nelson’s retirement Wednesday, social media quickly flooded with appreciation posts for one of the best receivers in the NFL over the last decade.

In his prime, Jordy Nelson was a terrifying combination of size and speed who could melt DBs on deep stuff up the seam or to the boundary. He was also one of the first modern hybrid receivers who kicked inside to the slot and became just as effective there.
