Social media reacts to The Boys in Green Episode 2 on RTE as documentary looks back on the Jack Charlton years

The second installment of RTE's Boys in Green documentary hit our screens on Monday night.

It followed the glory days of Irish football from the late 1980s through the early 90s taking in USA 1994 as well as plenty of other famous moments.

Jason McAteer recalls his role as one of the Three Amigos alongside Gary Kelly and Phil Babb, while the documentary also takes in the infamous riot at Lansdowne Road when Ireland hosted England in 1995.

And Irish football fans couldn't get enough of the documentary, which was directed by Ross Whitaker.

One posted on Twitter: "Fantastic You Boys in Green documentary, great to relive some brilliant memories and a wonderful time for Irish football."

Another said: "The Boys in Green documentary. Absolutely top class. Great memories of a brilliant era for Irish football."

Someone else commented: "Boys in green absolutely brilliant documentary. Thank god I was born in that era to see Irish football up there with the best. And we beat England. Gotta say @GaryLineker was excellent on it. Gave excellent praise to the Republic of Ireland team."

One fan added: "Every football fan, Irish or not needs to watch this Boys in Green documentary."

Another said: "Day 2 of isolation: Almost crying watching the Boys In Green documentary like as if I was even alive for Italia 90."
