Social media reacts: Georgia State hiring UGA football RB coach

Georgia Bulldogs running backs coach Dell McGee is being hired as the head coach at Georgia State. McGee has coached running backs at Georgia since 2016 under head coach Kirby Smart.

Dell McGee has an abundance of connections in Georgia. He is an elite recruiter and is primed to succeed at Georgia State. McGee coached players like Nick Chubb, Sony Michel, James Cook, and Zamir White during his time at Georgia. He won a pair of national championships with the Bulldogs.

Now, Georgia will have to find another running backs coach. Georgia is additionally looking for another wide receivers coach after Bryan McClendon headed to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFL.

Dell McGee will have a special opportunity to coach at Georgia State. McGee’s son, Austin McGee, signed with Georgia State as a member of the class of 2024 and will be able to play under his father. Social media had nothing but good things to say about Dell McGee after it was announced that he is expected to accept the head coaching role at Georgia State.
