Social media users were delighted following the news that Westlife will play at Pairc Ui Chaoimh next year.
Anticipation was building over the past week after MCD Productions revealed it would be announcing an act which will play at the Cork stadium in 2020.
And on Monday morning, the promotions company unveiled the Irish boyband as the mystery act.
Delighted Westlife fans took to Twitter to share their delight at the announcement - with some already booking hotels.
One user said: "Great start to the week, Westlife are coming to my favourite place in Ireland. Hotel is booked, now please let me get a ticket."
Another added: "Soooo I gotta be up super early on Friday morning to get tickets. Seriously, Westlife in Cork next year!!"
A third said: "Westlife coming to Cork has made my Monday a tiny bit less terrible."
Despite some people questioning the announcement, other social media users couldn't understand why so many were surprised with the news.
And one user noted how by having MCD involved, it could lead to bigger acts going to Cork.
One person said: "It was rumoured the day after Croke Park that Westlife were playing a show in Cork next year so I don't know why people are so surprised.
"It depends on which artists are available as well anyway. There's always the year after for someone major in everyone else's eyes."
A second added: "Even those who aren't Westlife fans should bear in mind the bigger picture that having promoters MCD back in the Pairc could lead to other big acts coming to Cork."
Shane Filan, Mark Feehily, Kian Egan and Nicky Byrne will play at the GAA grounds on Friday, August 28, 2020.
