Several fans took to Twitter and reacted to episode three of RTÉs The Heart of Saturday night presented by Una Healy and Loah.
This week’s show featured incredible performances from artists Damien Dempsey, Saint Sister, John and Ceoladh Sheahan.
An emotional tribute was included to Ronnie Drew by his son Phelim Drew, the only surviving member of the Dubliners, John Sheahan, Crash Ensemble, and folk group the Mary Wallopers.
Irish stars Una Healy and Loah share presenting duties with the show aired from the Round Room at the Mansion House.

The show’s production coordinator Eva-Jane took to Twitter sharing her support as she worked on the production: “Very proud to have worked as production coordinator on The Heart of Saturday Night, this show in particular was such a special one.. we’re some island for one island.”
The show began with an atmospheric performance from Crash Ensemble and Damien Dempsey.
After his performance, Damien told Una Healy how he first heard of the Dubliners.
Damien replied: “The first time I heard them the Dubliners, I was in my mother’s womb, she worked as a lounge girl in the Old Sheehan hotel in Raheny, the first time I was underwater.”
“I appreciate the treasure trove we have here in Ireland, all the old songs and tunes; it’s a beautiful gift,” he told Una.

Viewers on social media well received the RTÉ show.
One Twitter user expressed their liking for the music played: “@UnaHealy, can I just say the music that has been played on the heart of Saturday night has got to be the most beautiful and heartfelt music I have ever heard on Irish telly.”
Twitter user Alan added: “The Heart of Saturday night knocking it out of the park again @musicbyloah @UnaHealy @rte.”
Another shared: “Great tribute to Ronnie Drew tonight on The Heart of Saturday Night. Fitting to have John Sheehan, Phelim Drew and Damien Dempsey as guests.”
Artist Mark Durnin also shared his thoughts on The Mary Wallopers performance, adding: “@marywallopers were absolutely unreal on The Heart of Saturday Night. 3 incredibly talented lads. Nice to hear them having the chat after their song as well - ironically saying that Dubliners made trad accessible while they themselves making it accessible to another generation.”
- The music show returns this Saturday, August 14th, on RTE One.
