Social media hilariously reacts to Gucci's €550 GAA-esque shorts

People have been going mad on social media over Gucci's GAA-esque shorts.

Pictures of the €550 shorts have been circulating online after actor Paul Mescal made them trendy off the pitch.

The Normal People star has recently been branded a style icon by men’s fashion magazine GQ.

They announced that the tiny sports attire he wears both in the show and jogging outside his home in London have become the must-have style item of the season

“If you’re not wearing your boxers as shorts then you’re doing it all wrong,” the magazine said.

“This summer’s biggest shorts trend is shorts so short, floaty and, well, alarmingly breathable that they might as well be your boxers.

“Paul Mescal, the hunky alabaster actor from across the Irish Sea, is the surprise style icon of the lockdown summer.

“Not only did Mescal, who plays Connell Waldron in the BBC adaptation of Sally Rooney’s Normal People, cause a ruckus on the interweb with the Roxanne First chain necklace he wore in the show but last weekend he also went out for boozy picnic in London wearing a pair of shorts so minuscule they might well have been his boxers.”

People have been stunned by the Gucci shorts online.

Social media star Cian Twomey said: "Ah lads Gucci just made their own version of GAA shorts?! Imagine back in the day playing Junior B rocking a pair of gucci-woochies in left corner forward. In fairness to county Mayo the green and red is very on brand. Its only a matter of time until we have Louis Vuitton Hurlers."

One person said: "I’m still a bit shook that Gucci are doing GAA shorts, is it real or am I silly plz help."

Another added: "Eh... so are GAA shorts a thing now? #oneills #gaashorts #gucci."

Someone else commented: "Those Gucci shorts that look like GAA shorts. I swear people who buy them have way more money than sense."

Another person said: "Gucci designing gaa shorts is honestly gas to me imagine rockin up to training in Gucci shorts."

One Twitter user hilariously asked: "Could they be called The Gooch(ies)."

Gucci describe the shorts as: "Crafted from waterproof nylon, these swim shorts are completed by an elastic waistband with drawstring. The green and red Web ribbon runs down the sides and gives them an athletic feel with the Gucci jacquard label."
