Social media full of praise for new GAA documentary 'New Gaels'

People were full of praise for a new documentary giving a glimpse into the lives of four GAA players whose lives started outside Ireland.

RTE's 'New Gaels' tells the story of four people who came to a strange, new country and fell in love with the GAA.

Featuring Rosemount and Westmeath footballer Boidu Sayeh, Thomas Davis and Leitrim hurler Zak Moradi, Ballaghaderreen and Mayo footballer Shairoze Akram and Jeannine O’Brien who is involved with the Monaleen club in Limerick, it tells how the GAA has become an integral part of their lives.

Each telling their own compelling story, it details some of the racism the proud gaels have experienced in the country, while also showing how the GAA has embraced them.

While another commented: "Sport is such a wonderful tool and such a leveller to tackle many of societal issues, if used properly. Diversity makes Ireland is such a better place."
