Social Justice in Chicago: The March for Immigration Reform

In 2006, legislators proposed a bill that would have criminalized undocumented immigrants. The bill set off a series of protests in cities across the country, including Chicago. Now, 15 years later, advocates in Chicago are still calling for an overhaul of the immigration system.

Join our event moderator, Elvia Malagón, Sun-Times social justice/wage gap reporter, and special guests:

  • Jorge Mújica, activist and Strategic Campaigns Organizer for Arise Chicago
  • Amalia Pallares, Associate Chancellor and Vice Provost for Diversity at the University of Illinois at Chicago
  • Artemio Arreola, Director for Community Relations for the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights

Tune in live on Wednesday, May 19, at 6:00 p.m. CT

Readers are welcome to participate in the digital conversation and ask questions. We encourage you to submit questions for our panel when you RSVP. The forum is made possible by the generous support of The Chicago Community Trust.
