Hello and welcome to the Guardian Social Enterprise Network's daily digest – our space to discuss the latest news, advice and analysis from the sector.

• On the network today Kate Cooper, managing director of social media company Bloom worldwide, offers her five top tips for using social media tools to expand your social enterprise.

• Released yesterday, a new survey, 'Out of the Shadows' by Social Enterprise UK welcomed emerging EU procurement laws. Peter Holbrook, chief executive of Social Enterprise UK commented that these laws could help rebalance public sector markets, which he believes 'are too heavily weighted in favour of private companies'. The report also welcomed Labour's commitment to extending the Freedom of Information Act to firms delivering public services.

• Social enterprise expert, Adam Bradford was interviewed yesterday by The Information Daily on his belief that the rise of young social entrepreneurs is due to 'lack of jobs, the changing world of work and the ease of setting up a business'. • Finally, ImpactAssets – a non-profit which encourages philanthropists and investors to engage in impact investing – has released their third annual compilation of 50 impact investment fund managers. According to ImpactAssets, the 50 firms manage a combined $10.8bn in assets within the impact investing market.
