Plans to demolish a former social club to make room for a care home have been submitted.
Ravenhead Social Club, in St Helens, has been closed for a number of years and the building currently stands derelict, just off Prescot Road. Plans, submitted to the council by Care Partners Limited, outline the demolition of the current premises- to be replaced by an 80 bed care home.
The proposed care home is set to be across three floors. Part of a design and access statement for the site reads: "The site will be accessed from the west just off Alexandra Drive.

"Parking has been provided for 32 spaces, including two disabled parking spaces. Staff and visitors will primarily use this road on their daily commute to and from the site. A number of public transport stops are present along this route, making the development highly accessible."
The design statement also states that measures had been taken to ensure no disruption would be caused to neighbours through the development. It adds: "The development has been situated in a way to maintain enough distance from the commercial properties to the East for privacy.
"The existing treeline located around the site acts as a buffer to maximise privacy from the surrounding properties and increase safety and security levels for residents."
Part of the plans also outline a nail salon and café/bistro to be integrated into the building. The planning application is on public consultation until Wednesday, November 2.
A determination deadline has been set for January 6, 2023. You can view the application on the council's planning portal here.
