Socceroo gambles on UK move ahead of World Cup

Australian striker Mohamed Toure insists he can handle the aggression and physicality of the Championship after swapping Denmark's top flight for a £2.6 million ($A5 million) move to strugglers Norwich City.

The 21-year-old will have little time to acclimatise to the relentless scheduling of England's second tier as the Canaries battle to avoid relegation.

Norwich turned a corner in January but still sit just four points clear of the drop zone after picking up wins in three of their last four outings.

"What I've been told growing up from Australia is that it (the Championship) is very physical, demanding, a lot of games, especially in this league," Toure told Norwich's club website.

"So I'm just willing to take on the challenge ... I'm very excited to see the project. I've known the club for a very, very long time.

"I've been following the club, so I'm just excited to get started."

Toure joins Phillipe Clement's side on a four-and-a-half-year deal from Danish club Randers, where he scored 12 goals in 48 games.

But the switch to Norwich could impact his gametime after a year in which he made a case to become the Socceroos' first-choice striker.

Providing he is fit, the Guinea-born forward was considered a near certainty to earn selection for Tony Popovic's World Cup squad.

The eight-cap international has netted two goals in eight appearances for Australia.

Popovic's options have been impacted by a long-term injury to Noah Botic and the disastrous form of Western Sydney Wanderers attacker Brandon Borrello.

Other strikers have made January moves in a bid to show Popovic they are deserving of a place on the plane to the USA.

Kusini Yengi has been loaned to Japanese club Cerezo Osaka over the last week after an ill-fated transfer to Aberdeen.

Yengi's uncapped younger brother Tete has also followed the same path from Scotland to Japan, joining Machida Zelvia after Mitchell Duke made the move back to the A-League Men.

Duke has landed at Macarthur FC, while fellow striker Nick D'Agostino has returned to Brisbane Roar from Norway.
