U.S. women's national soccer team player Megan Rapinoe formally endorsed Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) for president in a tweet on Friday.

What they're saying: Rapinoe posted a video of a call with Warren in which she told the 2020 candidate she doesn't think the country can get to a better place "by walking this moderate line."

  • "I appreciate you being out front and being big and bold," Rapinoe said.
  • "You have shown such great leadership this year," Warren responds in the video.

The big picture: Rapinoe has made headlines for her political stances — especially her outspoken opposition to President Trump. She famously refused to attend the White House ceremony celebrating her team's 2019 World Cup win, before Trump rescinded his invitation.
