Soccer fans react to officials missing an obvious penalty against Manchester United

Chelsea and Manchester United met Saturday in a downpour at Old Trafford to resume one of the best rivalries in the Premier League, and the home team was incredibly fortunate not to concede a penalty midway through the first half.

On a Chelsea corner, Manchester United defender Harry Maguire wrapped his arms around Chelsea’s Cesar Azpilicueta, holding him down to prevent him from attempting a header at the goal. Maguire won the ball for Manchester United, and Azpilicueta protested the non-call to Martin Atkinson to no avail.

There wasn’t even a mention of a VAR check of the incident, which baffled fans given the glaringly obvious nature of the foul. The game remained scoreless in the first half.

Fans were in disbelief.
