Soccer Aid viewers slam Clive Tyldesley for 'fat-shaming' players after 'ruthless' digs

Clive Tyldesley was slammed by Soccer Aid viewers who accused him of "fat-shaming" players during tonight's game.

The 66-year-old commentator, who has been ITV's top football commentator for over two decades, came under fire following remarks he made about the appearance of several players.

During tonight's match, a number of popular celebrities took to the pitch alongside many footballing greats in the name of charity.

However, viewers quickly picked up that Clive had commented on some of the players' sizes.

At one point, Clive made a dig at Tom Davis and joked about him being able to see past his tummy.

Just moments later, Clive then appeared to take aim at a YouTube star called Chunks.

"Tom Davis is about to be replaced, and by somebody bigger than him," the commentator can be heard saying.

"There is Chunks, the well known YouTuber. He's going to be exhausted before he comes on."

Soccer Air viewers took to social media to express their surprise over the cruel comments.

"Big up Chunkz, awesome to see him in Soccer Aid. Absolute hero. Bit confused why Clive Tyldesley has decided to make 3/4 weight jokes about him though, it's a charity match," wrote one viewer.

"Can someone at ITV please tell Clive Tyldesley to stop making fat-shaming jokes about non-footballers? I know he’s used to commentating on professional athletes but it’s f****** gross," wrote another.

A third added: "Some very harsh banter in the commentary tonight aimed at the big lads."

"Well I think the commentators are bang out of order the way they’re fat shaming that player!!! Shocking!!!" wrote another.

"Nah this commentator is ruthless, Chunkz FC let’s go," said another.

A representative for Clive has been contacted for comment.
