Sobbing Ivanka Trump breaks down in tears as Donald makes final speech as president

Donald Trump's daughter Ivanka cried today after her father left the White House for the last time.

Today marks Trump's final day as President of the United States, replaced by Joe Biden who beat him in the November election.

And as he bid farewell to his controversial presidency, 39-year-old Ivanka - whom Trump shares with ex-wife Ivana - started to sob.

In a goodbye rally held for his supporters at Joint Base Andrews - a US air force base in the state of Maryland - tearful Ivanka watched alongside her siblings Donald Junior, Eric and Tiffany as her father spoke to the crowd.

In the rambling speech, Trump pledged to "be back in some form" after he was voted out of office.

He had left the White House at 8:12am with First Lady Melania, who also spoke at the Joint Base Andrews event.

Trump has never officially conceded defeat in the election, and has claimed that Biden won through fraud - something for which he and his supporters have presented zero evidence.

He is the first President in more than a century to refuse to attend his successor's inauguration.

It was reported that the break in tradition came became Trump wanted to dodge the indignity of travelling in Marine One (the presidential helicopter) and Air Force One (the presidential plane) after they'd been stripped of presidential designation.

It's thought he will now fly to Mar-A-Lago, Florida, and will remain president until Biden in sworn in at noon in Washington DC (5pm UK time).

As Trump spoke at the rally, Biden attended church with congressional leaders from both his own Democratic Party and the Republican Party.

It's been reported that Trump has left a letter for his successor in the Oval Office, though its contents remain unclear.
