
The white petals of flowering buckwheat plants blanket a field in Miyama, an area in Kyoto Prefecture known for its thatched houses. The flowers will be in bloom until the end of September and at the end of October, farmers will harvest the buckwheat, which will be used to make seasonal "shin-soba" noodles at local eateries.
