'So proud to be Leeds United': fans react to battling FA Youth Cup defeat at Manchester United

Leeds United fans got a glimpse of the future on Wednesday evening as they tackled Manchester United in the FA Youth Cup, where 1400 supporters travelled to Old Trafford.

Under the watchful eye of the Whites faithful, the young side put in a solid performance against the Premier League giants but unfortunately suffered a 1-0 defeat.

Dillon Hoogewerf netted the only goal of the game for the hosts, while Leeds saw Henri Kumwenda for a second yellow after a 50/50 challenge - a decision that infuriated Leeds fans.

However, there is no shame in the defeat as the Leeds youngsters gave a Manchester United side, which included a multi-million signing from Monaco, a tough game,

That was noted by the many fans who took to social media after the match to praise the performance, with proud supporters optimistic that they have some fine talents coming through who can make a significant impact.

They will be looking to follow the likes of Kalvin Phillips and Jamie Shackleton into the first-team picture, potentially in the Premier League if Leeds finally get their promotion wish.

Leeds' first-team are back in action on Saturday night, when they face fellow promotion contenders Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.
