This season was supposed to see change in the way VAR was used where offsides are regarded but Richarlison’s second goal being chalked off makes you think nothing has changed.
Referee chief Mike Riley announced the changes in the summer after too many contentious offsides happened last season.
Thicker lines were introduced which should allow at least 20 more goals being awarded but this wasn’t the case with Richarlison’s effort.
Rightfully, the Everton faithful weren’t in the best mood at the decision but that quickly changed as Demarai Gray secured all three points against Arsenal with a 92nd minute winner.

Fans took to twitter to express their frustrations at the decision in what was a critical game for the Blues.
Support was also shown for the poor decision by Mike Dean and his VAR team by non-Everton fans, such as Henry Winter.
Rafa Benitez was proud of his side at full-time as they kept pushing for the winning goal after feeling like everything was up against them.
