‘So much for Christian values’: ICE agent caught firing a pepper ball on an unarmed priest in Chicago

The self-proclaimed champions of “Christian values” have now turned their weapons on the very faith they claim to defend. In Donald Trump‘s glorious America, the so-called moral army of MAGA just fired on a priest.

Amid the protest against ICE operations in Illinois, one of Trump’s violent troops was caught firing a pepper ball at an unarmed, unengaged priest simply standing outside the Broadview detention center on Sept. 21. The priest, identified as Rev. David Black of First Presbyterian Church of Chicago, can be seen standing with raised arms in the video, either praying or pleading to the Department of Homeland Security agents standing on the top of the detention facility.

However, instead of responding to his pleas, the agents struck Rev. Black in the head with a pepper ball without warning. He immediately fell to the ground from pain while some protesters came to his aid. The video, captured by Unraveled Press and first posted by Black himself on his Instagram account, spread across social media like wildfire on the face of ICE and invited harsh criticisms from commentators.

Soon, Rev. Black posted another video of the ICE agents brutally assaulting him with pepper spray, while revealing that he was shot “seven times on the head” and body with “near-lethal chemical pellets.” He also revealed that the agents were “slamming peaceful protesters into fences and on the ground” all around him without a warning. While still hoping for an apology from the DHS and its secretary, Kristi Noem, he wrote:

“This is how the Trump administration treats the public witness of Christian faith. This and worse has been happening every day in Broadview.”

Taking strict note of the incident, the American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois filed a federal lawsuit on Oct. 6, on behalf of Rev. Black and several other harmless citizens who were attacked unconstitutionally by the ICE agents. The ACLU alleged violations of the rights given to these protesters by the First Amendment, which has already been in the political limelight due to Trump’s recent activities.
