Mishal Husain, one of the BBC radio 4 Today programme presenters who grills politicians, is subjecting herself to a grilling by the Media Society.
In the new year, she will be interviewed “on stage” by one of Today’s former editors, Phil Harding, to talk about how she goes about her job.
Husain, who also continues to read main BBC TV news bulletins, has an interesting personal story to tell, says Harding.
The daughter of Pakistani parents, she was raised in the United Arab Emirates, spending “10 happy years” there, she once wrote, before being schooled in Britain.
She first appeared on Today in October 2013, becoming the programme’s first Muslim presenter. Known for her unflappable style and politely persistent interviewing technique, she was voted earlier this year as broadcaster of the year by the London Press Club.
Amid questions about her work, which has included front-line reporting in Pakistan, Harding is also bound to ask her how she copes with John Humphrys.
The event, at London’s Groucho Club, will take place on 20 January from 6.30 to 8.30pm. Tickets can be obtained via Eventbrite.
