'So many problems' - Alessandro Del Piero explains how Real Madrid 'embarrassed' Liverpool

Alessandro Del Piero has slammed Liverpool's performance against Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals, believing Jurgen Klopp's side have “so many problems”.

The Reds fell to a 3-1 defeat as they put in a below-par performance in Madrid and have it all to do at Anfield if they are to stand any chance of progressing to the semi-finals.

And former Juventus forward Del Piero believes Liverpool made it embarrassingly easy for Zinedine Zidane's side to dominate midfield and win the match.

"Real were superior, even in the defensive phase," Del Piero told Sky Italia, via TMW. "I saw that while admitting Liverpool had so many problems.

"The tranquillity with which Kroos, Modric and Casemiro play is embarrassing. That pass from Kroos on the first goal.

"Quality, attitude, nastiness… Asensio, when matches count, he always scores. We know how special the Champions League is for Real and they are at ease on European soil."

Meanwhile, Paolo Di Canio was also appearing on Sky Italia and he too criticised the Reds, saying Real Madrid exposed their weaknesses.

"I want to underline the coach’s plan for the match," the Italian said. "Liverpool have already conceded goals with these long balls this year and Zidane knew it.

"Paradoxically, we thought that with Keita there would be more aggression. (However) Liverpool actually played in the opposing half but without affecting anything."
