Big Brother Australia 2025 is in full swing and the show’s got group chats and Reddit boards lit up across the country, discussing every single moment that’s seen and livestreamed. In particular, there’s one scene that has folks convinced Holly Young and Colin Ridley‘s TV romance is fake.
ICYMI: There’s been some skepticism over whether or not Holly and Colin are actually an item or if they’re playing it up for the cameras.
Is Holly and Colin’s relationship on Big Brother fake?
The rumour was fuelled by recently evicted housemate Michael Downs who left the house in a blaze of glory, publicly telling the WA model: “Holly, well done for your fake relationship with Colin. We all know that relationship will not last until halfway down the eviction runway. I do think you played the game. I don’t think you’re into Colin at all. Like, literally at all.“
In the diary room, Ridley had an emotional response, saying: “I can’t even comprehend why she’d like me… if something’s too good to be true, it usually is, right? I can’t think of any girl off the top of my head that would run to me. Why would it be her? Why would it be the model? Why would it be the most beautiful girl that I’ve seen in my life?”
He added: “I knew it was too good to be true, so it just makes me feel stupid I didn’t listen to myself.”
In the same ep, Ridley finally pulled Young up about her ~feelings~ and the fact she kept calling him the wrong bloody name — specifically Connor, another housemate. And not just once. Multiple times.
“My gut tells me something’s off, because so many people have said the exact same thing…” he said.
When Young asked if he seriously couldn’t see all the ways she’s shown she’s into him, Ridley absolutely nailed her with: “Learning my name would be a real cool first step.”
Cut to Young in her own Big Brother confessional… where she again calls him “Connor”. Yikes.
Holly and Colin moment goes viral on Reddit
And now, a blink and you’ll miss it moment has gone viral on Reddit that appears to show the couple intentionally showcasing their romance for the camera.
In the clip, Holly clocks that the camera is on her and she springs into action, positioning Colin so they appear like a couple.

Big Brother viewers have lost it over the wild moment, convinced it proves the relationship is, indeed, fake.
“So incredibly fake!” a member of the BBAU Reddit page wrote on the post, with another writing: “That’s insane behaviour get out.”
Another Redditor opined that both housemates are playing it up: “This is cringey but he also plays up to the cameras lol.”
Meanwhile, folks pointed out that a big part of the problem is that some of the cameras are visible, so the housemates are hyperaware of when they’re being filmed and it’s likely altering their behaviour.
“Put the cameras behind the mirrors again,” one Redditor wrote. “It worked for years with OG BBAU. I don’t care about manned cameras, but the remote cameras can easily work behind mirrors. These housemates are way too camera aware and it’s affecting their behaviour.”
Someone claiming to have worked as part of Big Brother production in the past then clarified: “Hothead cameras are better for reality shows on all fronts, allowing for easier editing, and control while live streaming. Shooting through mirror as was done on the OG series loses quality at a distance and a few stops of light, meaning previous houses had to be over lit, which was uncomfortable for housemates.
“Reducing camera operators is not only more cost efficient, it’s also better for everyones mental and physical health. Using only hidden cameras means needing more cameras to achieve the same range of angels.”
