'So happy' - Arsenal fans agree on Mikel Arteta's starting XI for Manchester City clash

Arsenal take on Manchester City in an early kick-off in what will be the first Premier League clash of 2022.

The previous meeting between the two teams did not go well for Mikel Arteta's men as City dismantled them in a 5-0 thrashing at the Etihad in September.

It was a defeat that left Arsenal bottom of the Premier League after three matches. Flashforward to January, however, and they now sit in fourth place.

But their opponents come in to the clash in the midst of a 10 game winning run in the Premier League, making the Gunners' solid four consecutive victories look average by comparison.

There is no doubting that Arteta has improved Arsenal this season, however, and it is difficult to rule out them picking up a result against the title favourites, even with the odds stacked against them.

Choosing the starting XI for such a big game is never going to be easy, even with some strong form bringing them into the clash.

There was a pleasant surprise upon the squad announcement being made too as Takehiro Tomiyasu returned to the starting line-up having recently been sidelined with Covid-19.

The summer signing has become a huge fan favourite at the Emirates so it was no surprise the sight of him in the starting line-up went down very well.

Here is the best of the reaction...
