Arsenal made a number of defensive signings during the summer transfer window.
David Luiz joined the club from London rivals Chelsea, while Kieran Tierney arrived from Celtic.
But there was another player who also signed, but stayed with his former club.
William Saliba joined for £27million from Saint Etienne, but went back to the French side on a season-long loan - the only way the Ligue Un club would allow the deal to happen.
And Saliba has continued the form that encouraged Arsenal to splash out £27million on an 18-year-old.
The teenage star has played just four games for the French team so far this season, having spent six weeks on the sidelines with an adductor injury.
But in the four games he has played for St Etienne, he has conceded just one goal, with his team winning 1-0 on the three occasions he has kept a clean sheet and the only goal they have conceded with him in the team coming in a 1-1 draw with Wolfsburg in the Europa League.
The latest 1-0 victory came over Bordeaux on Sunday - where Saliba came up against a former Arsenal defender in Laurent Koscielny.
There was keen interest in the match from an Arsenal perspective as a result, and Saliba impressed, with one moment in particular catching the Gunners' fans eyes.
On Reddit, an Arsenal supporter posted a clip of Saliba easing a Bordeaux striker off the ball in his own box, before turning and calming playing a ball out of defence.
The clip came with the caption: "Van Dijk come outside Saliba just wants to talk."
The caption was a reference to Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk, who has won Uefa's player of the year award and is one of the favourites to win the Ballon d'Or, and the competition he may have for the best defender in the Premier League next season.
Another user @Grayswandire said: "That was pretty sweet. He did something similar in the dying seconds of the match, and got the ball off of the attacker."
@biscarat went on to say: "I'm so very excited about this kid. Fantastic talent, it looks like."
There were plenty more like that too with @sykurbjorn saying: "He is SIX YEARS younger than our "young" CBs, Holding and Chambers."
There was an element of caution though from @cookievanop who said: "I don't want people to overhype him, but at the same time I can really appreciate how mature he is while defending, given that he's only 18."
