'So average' - Arsenal fans in disagreement as Aaron Ramsdale transfer fee agreed

Arsenal have less than two weeks left of the transfer window as technical director Edu attempts to complete the club's biggest squad rebuild in recent memory.

football.london revealed back in May that the Brazilian was hoping to bring in five players in the summer transfer window, with a goalkeeper, two defenders and two midfielders all targeted in an attempt to end the Gunners' five-year Champions League hiatus.

So far, the north Londoners have signed two defenders, in the shape of English centre-half Ben White and Portuguese left-back Nuno Tavares whilst Belgian midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga was also brought to the club, with all three making their Arsenal debut during the disappointing 2-0 defeat to Brentford on Friday night.

Next on the agenda is a keeper to challenge current No.1 Bernd Leno and and a creative midfielder to help ease Hale End graduate Emile Smith Rowe of some of the creative burden and football.london understands that Real Madrid playmaker Martin Odegaard is close to finalising a move back to the Emirates Stadium, having spent the second half of last season on loan with Mikel Arteta's side.

On the goalkeeper front, Arsenal are now edging closer to signing Sheffield United shot-stopper Aaron Ramsdale as football.london reported that a fee has been agreed with the Blades for the 23-year-old after our sister title Yorkshire Live confirmed on Wednesday evening that a deal had been 'completed in principle' earlier in the day.

A large section of the Gunners' fanbase took to social media to voice their opinions on the Ramsdale news, with a relatively mixed response ensuing. Here is how a select few reacted to the news on Twitter

@AdamSlezak2 : "I don't understand what is Arsenal's obsession with Ramsdale he's so average."

@Koobideh_Papi : "Why are people so negative about this news? He's a good keeper, just not worth what we are playing, similar to the White situation."

@Afcsammmm : "I feel sick."

@aviv_lavi : "If he signs for Arsenal, I will back him until the end. I still think £30m for a back-up keeper is wildly overpriced, but Arsenal clearly know what they want. You have to give them that."

@ArsenalNayr :"Why am I the only person excited to sign Ramsdale."
