SNP MSP 'feels sick' after scammer set up fake profile and contacted vulnerable person

An MSP has warned a scammer has set up an online profile in her name to get the details of vulnerable people.

SNP Caithness, Sutherland and Ross member Gail Ross was shocked to find an online Facebook messenger profile had been making contact with local people.

The scammer also stole a recent picture of her to make people think it was in fact the MSP.

Ms Ross has said she 'feels sick' after someone alerted her to messages, including an exchange of details with a vulnerable person.

The tweet (Twitter)

In an emotive tweet, Ross wrote: "Just as an update - I have now been sent messages where this person has actively pretended to be me, including receiving contact details from a vulnerable person.

"To say I feel sick is an understatement.

"I have reported it and am waiting on a response from parliament security."

She had previously tweeted; "Some lovely person has set up a fake messenger account in my name using a picture from my MSP FB account.

"I can't find it on a search but the person who received the message has reported it.

"Anything else I can do?"
