AN SNP MSP was approached by producers for the hit reality TV show Big Brother for its next series, it has been revealed.
The fly-on-the-wall show returned to TV screens across the UK in 2023 after it was axed by both Channel 4 and later Channel 5.
Regarded as one of the original UK reality TV shows, it has helped launch the careers of the likes of presenter Alison Hammond and Radio 1 DJ Adele Roberts.
However, Aberdeen Central’s Jack Middleton was left baffled after producers from the show asked him if he would be interested in taking part in its next series, according to the Scottish Sun.
The 31-year-old was reportedly invited by the production company Initial TV to apply for the show.
It is understood that a producer from the company had told the SNP MSP that they were interested in people from “all walks of life”.
“It was the normal Big Brother, not the celebrity version,” a source close to Middleton reportedly said.
“Jack has no intention of responding — he is in no way interested.”
The most notable Scottish politicians who have appeared on Big Brother include Dundee-born ex-MP George Galloway and former Glasgow MSP Tommy Sheridan.
Galloway famously appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in 2006, where in one task he purred like a cat and licked imaginary milk from the hands of actress Rula Lenska.
Ex-Scottish Labour leader Kezia Dugdale also appeared on the reality TV show I’m a Celebrity in 2017, without the approval of the party.
She also missed several sessions at Holyrood during her time on the show.
