SNP MP Joanna Cherry beefs up security after reporting another 'incident of concern' to police

SNP MP Joanna Cherry has strengthened her personal security after reporting another incident of “concern” to police.

It followed a separate incident in which a man was charged with a communications offence.

Cherry, the MP for Edinburgh South West, was sacked as her SNP’s justice and home affairs spokeswoman after clashes with party figures.

After being removed from her post, Cherry contacted police over a "vicious threat" to her safety.

Police confirmed a 30 year old man was charged in connection with the incident.

On Twitter today, she wrote about a separate incident: “I’ve spent the morning arranging enhanced security at my home & reporting another incident of concern to police. Unfounded allegations & calls to arms on twitter have consequences & I hope politicians from all parties will bear this in mind.”

In a recent article, the MP wrote that she was "not surprised" by her sacking, claiming:

"For some time, a small but vocal cohort of my SNP colleagues has engaged in performative histrionics redolent of the Salem witch trials.
