SNP MP Joanna Cherry accuses fellow nationalists of 'backstabbing' her amid bullying row

An SNP MP at the centre of bullying allegations by party staff has accused fellow nationalists of “backstabbing” her.

Joanna Cherry also tweeted her approval of an article saying Nicola Sturgeon ’s days as First Minister may be numbered.

Cherry MP went into Twitter meltdown today as the sniping campaign between rival factions of the party intensified online.

Cherry has furiously denied the claims by ex-staff of bullying in her parliamentary office, insisting they’re part of a “smear campaign”.

allegations.

Sturgeon has described Cherry as a “massive asset” but the Edinburgh MP re-ignited hostilities.

After Tory MP Peter Bone confronted Theresa May over her leadership, Cherry tweeted: “I’ll say this much for the Conservatives – at least they do their backstabbing in public”.

She also appeared to support a comment article speculating that Sturgeon might be forced to resign by the end of the year and naming Cherry as a possible successor.

Cherry has declined to comment.
