SNP hold Renfrewshire South as Tom Arthur secures second term as MSP

The SNP’s Tom Arthur has secured a second term at Holyrood as Renfrewshire South’s MSP.

Two days after voters hit the polls, the result of the ballot was finally revealed at Braehead Arena today.

Mr Arthur, who first claimed the seat in 2016 from Labour, will join nationalist colleagues Natalie Don and George Adam in the Scottish Parliament as they seized victory in Renfrewshire North and West and Paisley respectively yesterday.

"I'm deeply honoured to have been re-elected to serve as MSP for Renfrewshire South. I wish to thank people in Renfrewshire South for again placing their trust in me and in the SNP,” said Mr Arthur.

“I also wish to thank my brilliant campaign team who have worked tirelessly over the past two months.

“I'm looking forward to getting back to work supporting my constituents and being a strong voice for our local communities in the Scottish Parliament."

Mr Arthur received 17,532 votes ahead of Labour's Paul O'Kane in second who got 10,426.
