Snowdonia 360 re-launches after lockdown put brakes on Wales's own 'Route 66'

Attractions of Snowdonia has re-launched the Snowdonia 360 route.

Emulating the hugely successful North Coast 500 in the Scottish Highlands and other epic touring routes across the world such as Route 66 in the States, Snowdonia 360 aimed to make visiting north west Wales more accessible.

The route was launched just weeks prior to lockdown and included a new dynamic website - www.snowdonia360.com - interactive map and a printed map of the 360 mile route.

But then the entire tourism industry entered an enforced period of hibernation.

Now though they have stepped up the campaign again at a time of record interest in visiting North Wales.

Jonathan Williams-Ellis, chair of Attractions of Snowdonia and Snowdonia 360, said: “Snowdonia 360 brings something entirely different to those looking to visit and experience North Wales in their own unique way.

"We attracted huge interest upon launch, however, paused all activity in line with national guidelines.

"With mixed messaging and changing directives re foreign travel on an almost daily basis, many tourists are choosing to stay within the UK for their annual holiday.

"We see this as a great opportunity for Snowdonia 360 which will help visitors plan and manage almost every aspect of their journey.

“As a group of leading North Wales attractions, we have each faced considerable challenges and are keen to pull together to promote the region as well as our individual attractions.

"Pre-lockdown, we invested considerable time and effort researching and understanding other successful global touring models and created a unique circular route with bespoke functionality.”

Jonathan added: “Our ethos, vision and aim remain the same - we want to draw and retain more visitors to north west Wales, an area that has the potential to offer so much to so many people.

"We believe that this brilliant tool will inspire and drive tourism and we’re keen to continue to generate awareness of Snowdonia 360 regionally, nationally and internationally.”

Attractions of Snowdonia is a consortium of 29 leading North West Wales attractions, established some 30 years ago.
