Snowdon Mountain Railway say they need “visitors to return like never before” as they prepare to re-open following the three-month Covid-19 lockdown.
The visitor attraction, which has operated to the summit of Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) since 1896, will reopen to the public on July 10.
The historic railway attraction will also unveil the world’s first hybrid locomotives to take visitors to the summit later this summer following a £1.1million investment in the new green technology.
Vince Hughes, commercial manager, said: “The impact of Covid-19 on the Welsh tourism industry has been heartbreaking but we are now breathing a sigh of relief that attractions can start to reopen in July.
"Snowdon Mountain Railway has not been able to welcome a single visitor this year and that has had a devastating effect on the business, especially in the year when we invested so heavily in the new hybrid locomotives.
“We were so dependent on a strong start to the season and a busy summer period and whilst we are the first to accept that the health and safety of people must always come first, the social distancing measures and the closure of visitor attractions has hurt us significantly.
"The reality is that we now only have some of July, August and September to trade.
"It will take a while for us to recover and we urgently need people to come back.
"Our message to people in North Wales and the English regions around us is to come and visit Snowdon Mountain Railway - we need your support to help sustain us for the future.”
