Snow is expected to hit the UK this weekend as temperatures plummet to 1C in a big chill.
Flurries are likely in Scotland and Northern Ireland on Sunday and northern parts of the UK on Monday.
Lows of 1C on Sunday night will be accompanied by rainy and windy weather , making things feel even colder.
Met Office forecaster Bonnie Diamond told Mirror Online: "Over the week and by next week we will be returning to unsettled weather.
"The first signs of snow are on Sunday for northern parts of the country.
"A low pressure system across the UK on Monday is bringing wet and windy weather.
"As rain tied up with that system moves into the colder parts of the north-east it could fall as snow across higher ground."
Ms Diamond said snow is expected on the lower ground of north-west Scotland and potentially north-west Northern Ireland.
It is also likely on the peaks of northern Scotland.
She predicted that flurries could fall in northern parts of the UK on Monday, although the forecast is not yet clear.
Forecasters are also predicting further snowfall through next week.
Weather expert Robert Shaw wrote on his Facebook page The Actual Weather : "Tuesday will be very breezy and cold. We get a Polar Maritime blast, and that will deliver snow showers over Scotland and the west.
"A longer spell of snow is possible as a feature crosses the central areas of England, but the GFS [Global Forecasting System] often over estimates the cold.
"So there is snow in the forecast for next Tuesday, but it'll be mainly for northwestern and Scottish highlands.
"We might see snow falling in any showers that reach inland but away from higher ground it's unlikely to settle."
