Some roads and railways are likely to be affected, leading to potential travel disruption over higher routes.

Around 1-3cm of snow is expected on roads above 200 metres while 5-8cm is expected on higher ground.

The Met Office is warning there may be a temporary slushy cover for a short time at lower levels.

A drop in temperatures, below freezing, could lead to some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.

The news will not come as a surprise to many after the last week of weather warnings with ice and snow causing problems over the last few days.
