Snow Patrol announce two acoustic shows in Belfast and Derry for next week

Snow Patrol have announced two acoustic shows set to take place in Belfast and Derry next week.

The band explained the last minute decision to play on their home turf next week by stating that they hadn't added Northern Irish dates to their current tour, but scheduled some last minute when the "opportunity presented itself."

This will mark the first time that Snow Patrol - who are fronted by Bangor singer Gary Lightbody and four of whose members are from Northern Ireland - have performed here since before Covid.

The band will perform at the Waterfront Hall Belfast on October 5, and the Millennium Forum Derry on October 7.

In a statement announcing the news, the band said:

"We are happy to announce two acoustic shows next week in our homeland Northern Ireland. Next Tuesday Oct 5 th at the Waterfront Hall, Belfast and Thursday Oct 7 th at the Millennium Forum, Derry.

"We have desperately wanted to add some NI shows onto this tour that we are currently on. We didn’t think we were going to get a chance to play in NI on this tour but the opportunity has presented itself so we jumped at it. Sorry about the short notice but the only way we could make the shows happen.

"We’re really looking forward to them both!

"Hopefully see you there. SP.x"
