Snow Ireland: Wintery showers to arrive as Storm Arwen brings freezing winds

Storm Arwen will bring very windy conditions as freezing temperatures and snow hits Ireland this weekend.

Today and tomorrow will see strong northerly winds hit the country as Storm Arwen creeps in from the Atlantic.

Snow will be seen in parts of Ireland, with wintry showers expected to fall in high grounds.

In Dublin, Met Eireann expects a cold windy day today with temperatures of 7 to 9 degrees today.

Temperatures will fall to between zero and plus 2 degrees tonight.

Strong winds will continue, northwest to north in direction and showers will become mainly isolated to coastal regions with long clear spells developing.

And tomorrow, Dubliners should expect strong winds and cold weather to continue throughout the day with temperatures of about 3 or 4 degrees.

There'll be further showers, again some sleet, mainly around coastal areas with long sunny spells developing. The winds will begin to ease later in the day.
