Snow in Scotland this weekend as country faces the coldest November on record

Temperatures are set to plummet with snow on the way this weekend as the country faces the coldest November ever.

Wintery weather conditions are on the way for much of Scotland with bookmakers slashing their odds on the chances of snow this weekend.

Highs of just 0C are expected in areas of Aberdeenshire, with lows of-6C in some northern areas - reports The Met Office.

With temperatures dropping across the country, Ladbrokes now make it just a 2/1 shot that we see the white stuff before the weekend is out.

Additionally, it is now just a 7/4 shot for this to go down as the coldest November ever. While 2/1 says we are in for a white Christmas this year.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: "Things look set to take a turn for the worse on the weather front, and it now looks as though a record-breaking cold November could be on the cards, with snow potentially on the way as early as this weekend."

Elsewhere, snow is predicted to fall as early November 14, with flurries in Inverness and Edinburgh - according to weather site WXCharts.

Despite chilly temperatures and chance of snow, Tropical Storm Wanda may influence the type of weather conditions we are likely to experience over the weekend.

Met Office forecaster Dan Harris said: "Tropical Storm Wanda is not too far from the UK - and may indirectly influence the forecast early next week."

However, Met Office forecaster Aidan McGivern said that there is uncertainty about how much impact Storm Wanda will have and it depends on the way it reacts to the jet stream.

Further into the month, forecasters are anticipating a band of wintry showers to engulf much of the Highlands during the early part of the morning of Saturday, November 20.

Parts of the north are set to see the snowfall continue throughout the evening, with north western areas being hit the most by the adverse conditions.

The snow is expected to become heavier across the west coast of the country, with flurries potentially falling in south west Scotland.
