Snow hits different parts of Dublin amid baltic cold snap

Snow is falling on different parts of part as the cold snap takes hold of the capital.

Social media users shared pictures of the snow landing in their areas with some appearing to show snow sticking to the ground. Areas hit by the snow so far include Dun Laoghaire, Stillorgan, Dublin 15, Castleknock and Maynooth.

One user said: "A bit of sneachta in D15." Another wrote: "IT'S SNOWING!!"

A third said: "Snow in south dub". Earlier, Met Eireann issued a Status Yellow ice warning for Dublin and Wicklow.

The national forecaster warned that "wintry showers likely with snow in places, especially on high ground.

"This will lead to hazardous driving conditions". The warning will came into effect at 9pm tonight and will end at 6am on Friday morning.

Donegal has also received a snow and ice warning, while the rest of the country has a Status Yellow low temperature/ice warning. Temperatures are expected to dip to -4C tonight in parts of Ireland.
