Snow falls in parts of Wales just days after the hottest temperatures of the year so far

What a difference a day makes.

After a Easter Bank Holiday weekend which saw many of us basking in the glorious sunshine, Monday saw a complete about-turn, meteorologically speaking of course.

Indeed, in the space of just 24 hours much of Wales went from sun lotion and flip flops to overcoats and woolly hats as temperatures plummeted overnight.

And some places even saw the arrival of snow, with both mid and north Wales being hit by flurries of the white stuff.

Flintshire, Wrexham and Powys all had a dusting, mostly on the hills - stark contrast to the previous several days in which people flocked to both Wales' coast line and tourist spots such as Pen y Fan to enjoy an early taste of summer.

It was certainly a far cry from last Tuesday (March 30) when the mercury reached its highest level so far this year - the Met Office recording a reading of 21.6°C at Cardiff's Bute Park and in Gogerddan, Dyfed.

However, further south fared slightly better today with the sun once again making an appearance, although a cold wind and chilly lows of 6C ensured shorts and T-shirts wouldn't be getting much of a look-in.

And the arctic conditions look set to continue, if only for a few days, with the forecast for Tuesday predicting the wintry showers will hang around - even becoming more widespread by noon.

Once again temperatures remain unlikely to exceed 7°C, while both frost and rain is expected for most parts of the country on Wednesday, although Thursday promises to be dry.
